VINCA MINOR BLOG
I've been making several playlists recently as I'm trying to really take in songs that I've really grown to love over the years and that I wish I had written. Just a handful ot the most meaningful to me are: Last Things Last by Rachel's with Shannon Wright, Come Down To Us by Burial, When Love Breaks Down by Prefab Sprout, Two Weeks by FKA Twigs, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes by Asia and so so many more. I'm also really enjoying the new Julien Baker album, Turn Out The Lights, though it's hitting a little too close to home these days, so I'm trying to limit consumption on that one.

I've really been enjoying listening to the most recent Perfume Genius album, Put Your Back N 2 It. I, admittedly, wasn't as taken by his debut, but I think there are some really beautiful moments on this album and the production is really good. I like how the lead instrument can change from song to song and it's hardly noticeable. To me, the album really works as a whole piece - it has a sound, a texture and a mood.
I was listening to the Com Truise album Galactic Melt on my bike ride into work this morning. It's warm, the sun is shining and it provided a great soundtrack. I really love how melodic it is. It's something I miss from a lot of electronic music.
I was going to post about the Emily White post, but I think I'd rather talk about things that I like about music and, despite the finances involved, the reasons I keep making it.
I really like the Sigur Ros album, Valtari. I think my favorite track is the last one, Fjogur Piano. I love the melody and the places it goes. It's a very nice trip away for almost 8 minutes. It's rainy and grey right now in Seattle, so the escape is very nice. I'm giving this format a go and will see how it works. There a lot of things I would like to post that don't necesarily fit on the News page. More to come soon.
